Ectropion Repair

What is Ectropion?

Ectropion occurs when the lower eyelid turns outward, causing irritation, excessive tearing, and discomfort.

 

What causes Ectropion?

  • Aging and muscle weakness
  • Previous eyelid surgery or trauma
  • Skin conditions affecting the eyelid
 

How is Ectropion treated?

Surgical correction is recommended when symptoms persist.

 

What does the procedure involve?

Under local anaesthetic, the lower eyelid is tightened and repositioned. Small stitches are used to secure the lid in the correct position.

 

Are there any risks or side effects?

  • Temporary swelling and bruising.
  • Recurrence.
  • Infection is rare but can be treated.
  • Incomplete correction may require further adjustment.
