Carpal Tunnel Release
- Initial Review Duration: 15 minutes (if not already seen in a New Consultant Appointment)
- Procedure Duration: Approximately 30 minutes
- Cost: £1,315.00
Carpal tunnel release surgery is performed to relieve pressure on the median nerve in your wrist, which can cause numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in the hand and fingers. The procedure aims to restore comfort, movement, and normal sensation.
On the day of surgery, your consultant will meet you to explain the procedure and answer any final questions. A local anaesthetic is used to numb your hand and wrist, so you’ll remain awake but won’t feel pain. Once the area is fully numb, the surgeon makes a small incision in the palm to release the ligament pressing on the nerve. The wound is then closed and a dressing applied.
The procedure takes around 15-30 minutes, you will be able to go home the same day. You’ll be given clear aftercare instructions to support healing.
Trigger Finger or Thumb Release Procedure
- Initial Review Duration: 15 minutes (if not already seen in a New Consultant Appointment)
- Procedure Duration: Approximately 30 minutes
- Cost: £1,260.00
Trigger finger release surgery is performed to relieve stiffness, catching, or locking of a finger caused by a tendon that cannot glide smoothly through its sheath. The procedure aims to restore normal finger movement and reduce pain.
On the day of surgery, your consultant will meet you to explain the procedure and answer any questions. A local anaesthetic is used to numb your finger and hand, so you’ll remain awake but won’t feel pain. Once the area is fully numb, a small incision is made at the base of the affected finger to release the tendon sheath and allow smooth movement. The incision is closed and a dressing applied.
The procedure takes around 15-30 minutes, you will be able to go home the same day. You’ll be given clear aftercare instructions to support healing.
Needle Fasciotomy for Dupuytren’s Disease Procedure
- Initial Review Duration: 15 minutes (if not already seen in a New Consultant Appointment)
- Procedure Duration: Approximately 30 minutes
- Cost: £895.00
Needle fasciotomy is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat Dupuytren’s contracture, a condition where fingers gradually bend towards the palm due to thickened tissue. The aim of the procedure is to improve finger straightening and hand function.
On the day of treatment, your consultant will meet you to explain the procedure and answer any questions. A local anaesthetic is used to numb your hand, keeping you awake but pain-free. Using a fine needle, the surgeon carefully releases the tight cords causing finger contracture.
The procedure takes around 15-30 minutes, you will be able to go home the same day. You’ll be given clear aftercare instructions to support healing.
Ganglion Cyst Removal
- Initial Review Duration: 15 minutes (if not already seen in a New Consultant Appointment)
- Procedure Duration: Approximately 30 minutes
- Cost: £1,365.00
Ganglion cyst removal surgery is performed to remove fluid-filled lumps that commonly appear on the wrist or hand, which can cause discomfort or restrict movement. The goal is to relieve symptoms and restore normal hand function.
On the day of surgery, your consultant will meet you to explain the procedure and answer questions. A local anaesthetic is used to numb the area, ensuring you remain awake but comfortable. A small incision is made to carefully remove the cyst and its stalk. The incision is closed and a dressing is applied.
The procedure takes around 15-30 minutes, you will be able to go home the same day. You’ll be given clear aftercare instructions to support healing.
De Quervain’s Disease Release Surgery
- Initial Review Duration: 15 minutes (if not already seen in a New Consultant Appointment)
- Procedure Duration: Approximately 30 minutes
- Cost: £1,555.00
De Quervain’s release surgery treats pain and swelling at the base of the thumb caused by tight tendon sheaths. The aim is to relieve pain and restore smooth thumb movement.
On the day of surgery, your consultant will meet you to review the procedure and answer questions. A local anaesthetic is used to numb your hand and thumb, so you’ll be awake but pain-free. A small incision at the base of the thumb allows the surgeon to release the tight tendon sheath, freeing the tendons for smooth movement. The incision is closed and a dressing is applied.
The procedure takes around 15-30 minutes, you will be able to go home the same day. You’ll be given clear aftercare instructions to support healing.
Please Note
Before any surgical procedure, you will need to attend an outpatient appointment in our Elbow, Hand and Wrist Clinic. During this consultation, a specialist consultant will confirm whether surgery is appropriate for you. They will also take the time to answer any questions you may have, explain how to prepare for your procedure, and discuss what you can expect during your recovery.
Following the operation, you will be given clear advice on aftercare, including wound management, gentle exercises, and when you can safely return to everyday activities. Most patients experience significant relief from symptoms, allowing them to return to daily tasks with improved comfort and confidence.
