What is Dermatology?

Dermatology is the medical specialty concerned with the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of conditions affecting the skin. This includes skin lesions and moles, inflammatory skin conditions, skin allergies and concerns regarding possible skin cancer.

Our private dermatologists provide expert assessment in an outpatient setting. Consultations may involve evaluation of moles, spots, rashes, lumps, bumps and other skin changes to establish a diagnosis and determine the most appropriate management plan.

Where appropriate, assessments include dermoscopy - a detailed magnified examination of the skin performed by an experienced Dermatology clinician. This allows accurate assessment of both pigmented and non-pigmented lesions and helps identify features that may require monitoring, investigation or treatment.

Consultant Dermatologist – New Patient

  • Duration: 30 minutes
  • Price: £250

This 30-minute appointment is led by one of our experienced Consultant Dermatologists. It is ideal for patients with more complex, persistent, or diagnostically challenging skin conditions, or for those who prefer to see a consultant from the outset.

During the appointment, the consultant will take a thorough medical history, perform a detailed examination of your skin, and discuss your concerns in depth. They may recommend further investigations (such as biopsies or specialist tests) or outline a comprehensive treatment plan. A detailed letter will be sent to your GP following the appointment.

Consultant Dermatologist – Follow-Up

  • Duration: 30 minutes
  • Price: £215

This follow-up appointment is with the same Consultant Dermatologist you saw previously within our clinic, within the past 6 months. It is designed for patients who require ongoing specialist oversight of complex skin conditions, treatment monitoring, or review of results from investigations.

The consultant will assess your response to treatment, make any necessary adjustments to your care plan and address any new or ongoing concerns. A letter summarising the consultation will be sent to your GP.

Consultation Dermatology – Full Body Mole Check

  • Duration: 30 minutes
  • Price: £200

This 30 minute appointment is for patients seeking a comprehensive skin examination to assess moles and skin lesions for potential concerns. It’s ideal for those with a history of sun exposure, family history of skin cancer, or anyone wanting a thorough evaluation of their skin health, regardless of prior visits to our clinic.

Consultation Dermatology – Single Mole Check

  • Duration: 15 minutes
  • Price: £100

This 15 minute focused appointment is designed for patients concerned about a specific mole or skin lesion, such as unusual growths, lumps & bumps, or changes in skin appearance. Our clinician will evaluate the mole/lesion for potential issues, including skin cancer, and recommend next steps. Suitable for new or returning patients, regardless of prior clinic visits.

Mole Mapping (Total Body Photography)

  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Price: £350

This comprehensive appointment uses advanced digital AI imaging technology to create a detailed “map” of all your moles and skin lesions across your entire body. It is ideal for patients at higher risk of skin cancer (such as those with many moles, fair skin, a history of significant sun exposure, previous skin cancer, or a strong family history), or for anyone who wants the highest level of monitoring for peace of mind.

During the appointment, our clinician will:

  • Take a full medical and skin history
  • Perform a thorough head-to-toe skin examination using dermoscopy
  • Capture high-resolution digital photographs of your entire skin surface
  • Record detailed images of any concerning or atypical moles

All images are securely stored so they can be compared at future appointments to detect even the smallest changes over time. You will receive a clear explanation of the findings during the visit, along with a personalised plan for ongoing monitoring or any treatment needed. A detailed report will also be sent to your GP.

Mole mapping is one of the most effective ways to monitor skin health proactively and supports early detection of any potential issues.

Please Note

Before any surgical procedure, you will need to attend an outpatient appointment in our Private Dermatology Clinic. During this consultation, a specialist will confirm whether surgery is appropriate for you. They will also take the time to answer any questions you may have and explain how to prepare for your procedure.

Following the operation, you will be given clear advice on aftercare and including wound management.
