What is Gynaecology?
Gynaecology covers the assessment and treatment of conditions affecting the female reproductive system and women's health. Gynaecological symptoms can vary widely and may include heavy or irregular periods, pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, vaginal symptoms, menopausal concerns or issues relating to fertility. Specialist assessment can help identify the cause of symptoms and provide appropriate treatment and reassurance.
Our private Gynaecology service offers personalised, consultant-led care in a calm and modern outpatient setting. Miss Zoe Woodward, Consultant Gynaecologist, provides individualised consultations based on each patient's symptoms, concerns and medical history, with the aim of providing clear advice and a tailored management plan.
If further investigation is required, appropriate diagnostic tests and outpatient procedures can be arranged or undertaken as part of your care. Where clinically suitable, this allows investigation and treatment to take place without the need for hospital admission.

- Patients with symptoms requiring immediate assessment in an Emergency Department or urgent gynaecology service
- Patients requiring complex surgery or procedures that cannot safely be performed in an outpatient setting
- Patients requiring general anaesthesia where this is not available as part of the service
- Patients requiring inpatient or day-case hospital treatment where this cannot be provided by the clinic
- Patients requiring specialist oncology care where onward referral to an appropriate specialist service is indicated

New Gynaecology Consultation
- Duration: 20 minutes

During your first appointment, the consultant will take a detailed medical history and discuss your symptoms, concerns and any previous investigations or treatment.
A focused gynaecological assessment will be undertaken where clinically appropriate. Depending on your symptoms and clinical findings, further investigations or procedures may be recommended.
Your management options will be discussed with you, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss any concerns. Where appropriate, this may include arranging further investigations, treatment, follow-up or referral to another specialist service.
Follow-Up Gynaecology Consultation
- Duration: 20 minutes
- Price: £200
This appointment is suitable for patients returning to review symptoms, investigation results or response to treatment.
The consultant will review your progress, discuss any test or scan results, reassess your symptoms where appropriate and agree the next steps in your care.
This may include continuing or adjusting treatment, arranging further investigations or procedures, or recommending onward referral where specialist treatment is required.
Smear Test (performed within a new or follow-up consultation)

Cervical screening (smear testing) can be provided where appropriate.
A cervical screening test involves taking a small sample of cells from the cervix to check for high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) and, where indicated, abnormal cell changes.
If you have received an abnormal cervical screening result or have symptoms such as abnormal bleeding, further assessment may be recommended rather than a routine screening test alone.
Hysteroscopy (performed as a separate appointment in a theatre setting)

A Hysteroscopy is a procedure used to examine the inside of the womb using a thin telescope called a hysteroscope. It can be used to investigate symptoms such as abnormal or heavy bleeding, bleeding after menopause or other suspected problems within the womb.
Where clinically appropriate, hysteroscopy may also allow certain treatments or procedures to be carried out during the same episode of care.
The suitability of hysteroscopy and any additional procedures will be assessed on an individual basis. If further treatment or hospital-based care is required, this will be discussed with you and appropriate onward referral arranged.
Coil insertion, removal or replacement can be undertaken if required and clinically appropriate.
Pessary Insertion (performed within a new or follow-up consultation)
- Price: Between £190 and £285, depending on the type of pessary used
A pessary is a medical device inserted into the vagina to provide support for pelvic organs. Pessaries may be suitable for some patients experiencing symptoms associated with pelvic organ prolapse or pelvic floor weakness.
The clinician can assess whether a pessary may be appropriate for you and discuss the available options. Where suitable, a pessary can be fitted and advice provided regarding its use and ongoing management.
Ultrasound
- Price: £285
Gynaecological ultrasound can be used to assess the uterus, ovaries and surrounding pelvic structures.
Depending on your symptoms and clinical requirements, an ultrasound may be recommended to investigate concerns such as pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, fibroids, ovarian cysts or other gynaecological symptoms.
An ultrasound may be performed abdominally or transvaginally depending on the clinical indication and patient preference, where appropriate.
The findings will be discussed with you and used to help guide any further investigation or treatment.

Our aim is to provide accessible, consultant-led private gynaecological care with clear communication and an individual approach.
Following your consultation or investigation, you will be advised of the findings and any recommended next steps. Where additional investigations, treatment or specialist hospital care are required, these will be discussed with you and appropriate onward referral can be arranged where necessary.
A summary of your consultation and management plan may be shared with your GP, with your consent, to support continuity of care.
