Urology
What is urology?
Urology is the area of medicine that looks after the health of your urinary system in both men and women — the parts of your body that help make and remove urine. This includes your kidneys, bladder, ureters (tubes that carry urine), and urethra (the tube you urinate through). For men, urology also covers the prostate, testicles, and penis.
Our Urology team are here to help with everything from common problems like urinary tract infections and kidney stones to more complex issues such as bladder control and infertility.

- Blood in the urine (haematuria)
- Bladder issues – overactive bladder, incontinence (leaking urine)
- Kidney problems – kidney stones, infections
- Prostate issues – urinary problems, waking up at night to pass urine, screening for prostate cancer

New Consultant Appointment
- Duration: 30 minutes
- Price: £200
If you’re experiencing urological concerns or seeking specialist advice, our New Consultant Appointment is the perfect starting point. During this 30-minute session, our experienced urology consultant will take the time to listen to your symptoms, review your medical history, and discuss any concerns you may have. This comprehensive review covers a wide range of urological conditions, such as urinary tract infections, kidney stones, bladder issues, issues with the penis or scrotum, erectile dysfunction or prostate concerns.
The consultant may recommend further diagnostic tests or procedures to better understand your condition. These could include blood tests, urine tests, imaging (such as ultrasound or CT scans), or minor procedures like cystoscopy (a camera-based examination of the bladder). Please note that any additional tests or procedures will incur separate costs, and we’ll provide clear pricing information before proceeding. You’ll leave the appointment with a clear plan tailored to your needs, and we’ll send a detailed letter to your GP outlining our findings and recommendations, ensuring your care is well-coordinated
Prostate Health Assessment
- Duration: 30 minutes
- Price: £400
Our Prostate Health Assessment is designed for men who want a thorough evaluation of their prostate health, whether due to symptoms, family history, or routine screening. During this 30-minute appointment, our consultant will perform a comprehensive assessment to give you peace of mind or identify any issues early.
The appointment includes:
- A physical examination, which may include a digital rectal exam (DRE) to assess the prostate.
- A urine dip test to check for signs of infection or other abnormalities.
- A flow rate test to measure how well you pass urine.
- A bladder scan to check for any residual urine in the bladder.
- A PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) blood test to screen for prostate health markers.
- In some cases, a kidney function blood test may be recommended to assess overall urinary health.
We’ll discuss the results with you and outline any next steps, such as further tests or treatments, if needed. A detailed report will be sent to your GP to keep them informed of your assessment and any follow-up plans.
Vasectomy Procedure
- Initial Review Duration: 30 minutes (if not already seen in a New Consultant Appointment)
- Procedure Duration: Approximately 45 minutes
- Price: £1,200
A vasectomy is a safe and effective permanent contraception option for men who are certain they do not want to father children in the future. If you haven’t already had a New Consultant Appointment, you’ll need to begin with a 30-minute New Consultant Appointment for review to discuss your decision, review your health, and explain the procedure in detail. This is your opportunity to ask any questions and ensure you feel fully informed.
The vasectomy itself is a quick, minimally invasive procedure, typically performed under local anaesthetic in about 45 minutes. You’ll receive clear instructions on preparing for the procedure and what to expect during recovery, including advice on rest, pain management, and avoiding strenuous activity for a short period.
After the procedure, we’ll schedule a follow-up semen analysis (typically 12–16 weeks later) to confirm the procedure’s success (this is included in the total cost). A detailed report will be sent to your GP, summarising the procedure.
Circumcision Procedure
- Initial Review Duration: 30 minutes (if not already seen in a New Consultant Appointment)
- Procedure Duration: Approximately 30 to 60 minutes
- Price: £2,000
Circumcision is a procedure that involves the removal of the foreskin from the penis if indicated for medical reasons. If you haven’t already had a New Consultant Appointment, you’ll need to begin with a 30-minute New Consultant Appointment to discuss your reasons for considering circumcision, review your medical history, and explain the procedure in detail. This is a chance to address any questions or concerns you may have.
The circumcision procedure is performed under local anaesthetic and takes about 45-60 minutes. Our consultant will carefully remove the foreskin and close the incision with dissolvable stitches. We’ll provide detailed guidance on post-operative care, including how to keep the area clean, manage any discomfort, and when to resume normal activities (usually after a few weeks).
We’ll arrange follow-up care to ensure proper healing, and a detailed report will be sent to your GP outlining the procedure and your recovery plan.
