I am a long-standing NHS GP based in Whitstable, with many years of experience in providing care to my local community. I completed my medical degree at Kings College Hospital the University of London and then spent 4 years in hospital medicine. My enjoyable GP career followed during which I have been involved in numerous projects, both locally and nationally, aimed at improving the NHS model of care - helping to bring more and better healthcare directly into the community. I hold a Diploma in Child Health, have been a GP surgeon in General Surgery, Orthopaedics and Gynaecology, and have also run a sports injury clinic.

While I remain passionate about conventional medical practice, I have increasingly recognised that the greatest potential for improving health lies in prevention. Proactive, evidence-based Lifestyle Medicine offers powerful ways to protect against, help manage, and in some cases reverse many common health conditions. Surely a better idea than fatalistically awaiting the onset or worsening of illnesses.

I hold a Diploma in Lifestyle Medicine and continue to expand my knowledge in this rapidly growing field. Research consistently shows that Lifestyle Medicine plays a vital role in supporting both physical and mental wellbeing, reducing the risks and impact of conditions such as obesity, metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure, raised cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, dementia, mental health issues and certain cancers.

At our Lifestyle Medicine Clinic, I offer patients the time and space for a detailed exploration of their current lifestyle - identifying both strengths and areas for change. Together, we will create a personalised health plan with achievable goals designed to improve your long-term wellbeing.

This service is offered privately, as the time required for this level of in-depth consultation is not currently feasible within standard NHS GP appointments. However, my commitment to and support for the NHS remains unwavering.

Lifestyle Medicine represents a shift from asking “what is the matter with you?” to exploring “what matters to you?”

Whether aiming to improve your vitality, manage a chronic condition, or simply invest in your future health, it is never too early or too late to begin this journey.
